Call for Project Ideas

Contribute your idea to future Sustainable Carbon projects

We invite participants to submit project ideas that can contribute to the development of a Sustainable Carbon Hub in Northwest Europe.

Selected project ideas will be given the opportunity to pitch during the event and will be used to explore follow‑up steps towards new pre‑competitive collaborations.

What kind of project ideas are we looking for?

Your project or project idea should be briefly and clearly described and demonstrate alignment with the criteria below.

1. Contribution to a Sustainable Carbon Hub

The project (idea):

  • Supports the narrative of a Sustainable Carbon Hub in Northwest Europe
  • Takes steps along at least one of the following routes:
    • Adaptation of the existing petrochemical industry for the use of sustainable carbon, including mechanical and chemical recycling
    • Development of new chemical or biochemical conversions

2. Alignment with NTS Sustainable Carbon Hub themes

The project (idea) aligns with one or more of the following themes:

  • Feedstock pretreatment
  • Conversion technologies
  • Downstream processing
  • Water purification and treatment

The use of AI and data science in relation to these themes to support innovation development is considered a plus.

3. Impact and feasibility

The project (idea):

  • Contributes demonstrably to earning potential, strategic relevance and environmental impact
  • Has a targeted time to market of TRL 2–6
  • Aims for pilot or demo scale implementation by 2035

4. Pre‑competitive collaboration and value chain development

The project (idea):

  • Contains a technological development goal and associated knowledge questions
  • Can only be realised in a pre‑competitive consortium setting and contributes to value chain development
  • Includes a clear request for help from participants attending this event

How does it work?

  • Submit your project idea by 15 May via 📧 irene.tendam@ispt.eu
  • The core team of the NTS Action Agenda Process Technology (VNCI, ISPT and Marco Waas) will select project ideas for pitching based on:
    • the number of submissions
    • their contribution to the criteria described above
  • All submitted project ideas will receive feedback, and where possible, a response to the stated request for help.

About the location

Projectspace ‘On The Inside’ is an independent and international platform for contemporary art situated within the cultural landscape of Amsterdam’s NDSM wharf, just 10 minutes from Central Station via the free ferry.

The exhibition Transit is currently on display. Transit reflects on the interdependent relationship between climate, industry, and prosperity. Intervening in one inevitably affects the others. This creates friction.

Transit shows that the energy and industrial transition is not only a technical and economic challenge, but also one that requires imagination. Rather than illustrating research outcomes, the exhibition brings contemporary art into dialogue with academic inquiry. Developed in connection with a five-year interdisciplinary research programme by the Sustainable Industry LabTransit stages an encounter between scientific research and artistic practice. Transit does not offer solutions. Instead, it raises the questions that need to be asked.
