The ideal state for plastic waste management in 2050 involves minimized incineration, no landfills, and no litter, with extended producer responsibility for recycling and plastic products made with recycling in mind.
This requires action from industry, government, and consumers. Therefor the Circular Plastics Initiative (CPI) released its Circular Plastics Roadmap, which was developed in 2021 in collaboration with experts from industry and academia.
The Circular Platics Roadmap shows what steps are needed to create a future where recycling has replaced incineration as the norm. The roadmap sets out a vision for the future and shows how it can be realized.
