While technological innovation is critical to achieve circularity in plastics, it’s important to recognize that the externalities extend beyond just technical considerations.
Towards 2050 (inter-)national legislative obligations, plastic harmonization requirements and ownership of waste streams provided by the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) should give clarity on the direction of circular plastics.
These developments take place outside the Circular Plastics Initiative, but are nevertheless attention points in our future collaborative projects. Check out the other externalities.
