Herman van der Meyden

Van der Meyden studied political science at Leiden University and offshore engineering at Delft University of Technology. Starting in 2007, he built a long career at Shell, where he began in the department for future scenarios (Shell Strategic Energy Scenarios) and also held technical and commercial positions, including as an offshore structures engineer for the Prelude FLNG project and as a business developer for Gas.

He then moved on to key positions at the intersection of policy and climate. As a government relations advisor and energy transition manager at Shell Netherlands, his responsibilities included leading the company’s involvement in the PORTHOS CCS (CO2 storage) project.

He began his role as director of communications and public affairs at TataSteel on July 1.
