Alex Krijger is a geopolitical analyst and founder of Krijger & Partners. He is also a lecturer in Geo-economics at Leiden University and chair of the humanitarian aid organisation Care Nederland. Alex has a background in the Ministry of Defence, the CDA and Shell. During our meeting, Alex will speak on the topic ‘The shifting world order: a positive geopolitical perspective’.
According to Alex, we are in a chaotic transitional period from the familiar old world order to an unknown new one. Major geopolitical shifts are taking place in economic, demographic, technological, socio-cultural and economic spheres, with the climate challenge acting as an accelerator. This is not merely an era of change, but a genuine change of era. Understandably, this leads to many questions, uncertainty and unease among many people.
However, according to Alex, there is still ample reason to be positive. There are plenty of opportunities in this shifting world order, but we must dare to seize them. And, to begin with, this requires a different perspective – a different way of looking at the world around us.
