Managing Director Circular Plastics NL

Marc Spekreijse is the director of Circular Plastics NL. In this position, Marc is responsible for rolling out and expanding the National Growth Fund program: Circular Plastics NL. Marc studied chemical engineering at the TU Twente, with a specialization in materials science/polymer technology. He started as a chemist within R&D at AkzoNobel and then held various positions in engineering/innovation, marketing, sales, business, and general management in the Netherlands and abroad. Later he became CEO of several Würth companies, globally active in the coatings, adhesives & specialty chemicals market. More recently, he was CEO of a family-owned business in the European packaging industry.

Marc on circular plastics:

“We cannot continue to endlessly use fossil fuels as a raw material for plastics, but neither can we do without these materials in our daily lives. The Circular Plastics NL program offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the necessary transition to more circularity. This transition requires huge investments, efforts, and innovation throughout the value chain. We can accelerate that with this National Growth Fund program. With my academic background and international business experience, I hope to contribute to more effective collaborations between industry, government, and research communities.”
