Ernst Worrell

Ernst Worrell (Ph.D.) is professor ‘Energy, Resources & Technological Change’ at Utrecht University in the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development.

His research focuses on the technical, economic and policy aspects of the energy-resource nexus, including energy, material efficiency improvement, waste management and the transition to a circular economy. He is co-author of various IPCC reports. The IPCC received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. He is (co-) author of over 300 publications, and editor of the award winning Handbook of Recycling (2014). He is the 12-year Editor-in-Chief of the journal Resources, Conservation and Recycling.
