Dr. Carlos Kuhlmann holds a degree in Molecular Sciences from the University of Groningen and a PhD from the University of Cologne, specializing in organic and physical chemistry. His expertise centers on the characterization and processing of organic compounds. Since joining Saxion University in 2016, he has built an extensive Europe-wide network within the technical textile sector, bridging academia and research. As a lecturer in the Master’s programme in Innovative Textile Development, he contributes to advancing innovative and sustainable textile solutions.
Currently, Dr. Kuhlmann focuses on characterizing textile polymer mixtures to improve recycling processes. He leads the “Regiodeal Textile Identification” project, which enhances sorting and reporting for textile recycling. He is also involved in the TEXPOWER project, collaborating with partners across the value chain to advance polycotton recycling.
Accurate and rapid characterization is crucial for impactful textile recycling.
