ISPT, Groningen Seaports and Nothern Industrial Cluster collaborate in Conference’25.

Share

This year the ISPT Conference proudly collaborates with Groningen Seaports, Province of Groningen and the Northern Industrial Cluster. A promising collaboration, as the 3 major transitions ISPT is working on (the energy transition, the materials transition and the agro-food transition) come together in Groningen. The joint conference will be held on May 8, 2025.

Groningen Seaports and the Northern Industrial Cluster (Chemiepark Delfzijl) are developing into leading hubs for industrial growth, renewable energy, and sustainable production. With a strong infrastructure and a focus on electrification, green hydrogen, green chemistry, regenerative agriculture, and circular material flows, this region offers great opportunities and space for international collaboration, sustainability, and economic strengthening.

Within ISPT we believe that Groningen offers European industry space and opportunities with clusters for green energy, biobased chemistry, and circular business activities.

Electrification is the most important answer to the questions of how we can strengthen the industry’s competitiveness today and where we can find affordable energy. Groningen understands this well.

Tjeerd Jongsma, Director ISPT

Our ports play a crucial role in the electrification of the industry. Here in the North, everything comes together: strong infrastructure, sustainable energy, and close collaboration within the chemistry and circularity clusters. This ecosystem not only provides space for innovation and growth but also demonstrates how electrification is the key to a competitive and sustainable industry in the Netherlands and Europe.

Cas König, CEO Groningen Seaports

Our shared message

A strong and competitive European industry starts with the independence of critical sectors for sustainable economic development, such as energy, materials, and food. Through strategic investments and innovation in these sectors, as well as close collaboration between all value chain players and other stakeholders based on a shared future vision, we can build a resilient economy in a livable environment.

During this conference, we try to find an answer on the question how, from a Groningen perspective and experience, the Netherlands and Europe can strengthen their position. For example, through well-planned, efficient and sustainable production and logistics, a circular regional economy with smart collaborations between ports, industries and innovative clusters and local authorities. What can the Netherlands and Europe learn from the approach and experiences in Groningen? And what opportunities are being offered?

Access to the conference is by personal invitation only.
